Congratulations Scott! You have given may of us much enjoyment and education watching you pursue this accomplishment. Your daughter is gifted also and made a very enjoyable video of your first flight.

As far as being the first scratch builder, I think that one goes to Chris Heintz.

You might be the first plans built customer though.

Well done my friend.

Congratulations, Scott! Very neat that your daughter has been involved in your project right up to your maiden flight. Your accomplishment and her video is a real motivation to the rest of us builders who have a ways to go. Please keep us posted on performance figures with the WW Corvair!

Scott,
Congrats on a job well done! I'm sure that you'll go down in the history books as flying the first "plans built" 601XL.
Enjoyed seeing the white stuff in the background -- that is something we are short of as we are in our seventh year of drought!
Thanks for sharing,

Wow Scott. You've given every scratchbuilder (and everyone else for that matter) a great reason to keep returning to the garage every day or two. It couldn't happen to a nicer, more generous guy. My deepest congratulations.

I wanted to echo too what Dave has said here. It's been really wonderful for someone like me with no kids to see how involved your daughter has been in your project. Looks like she may have even found a passion of her own for aviation through you - after videography of course!

Sorry, it just came to me after the "you'll go down in history.." comment. I'll go take my medicine now.

Hi Scott,

Congratulations! There's a bunch of us out here that owe part of our
building skills to you and your website... including some unique parts such
as the AOA probe that you expertly fabricated! I hope you keep your web
site up and running for future generations of builders because it is so
incredibly complete. By the way, how did the AOA work? Did it follow the
design of the gauge fairly close? Or were you more interested in other
things at the time?

I got mine inspected about two weeks ago and hope to get it in the air this
month... but mine was a kit and it still took almost four years and a lot of
help from others.

Keep us posted. Thanks for everything.

Congratulations Scott!

Great Job!

Soon I hope to joint the ranks of sitting on my fuselage making put-put noises since I don't have an engine yet! I'll get there though!

Again, congratulations!
