As one who is keeping his chequebook in the fridge (so that it won´t catch fire when I write the cheque for my kit Smile ) I thought it would be interesting to get an indication of how completed Lightnings are measuring up on the scales. There are 22 or so out there flying now which means, given the choice in finish and equipment, there must be that many empty weights (at least).

If those who are already enjoying their Lightnings would care to post the weight for their aircraft as a reply to this then the rest of us would be interested to hear. Identification optional!
Cheers, Selwyn

Well, everyone is being very coy about empty weights. So far I have three aeroplanes with an average of around 840 lb. What about the rest of you motivated people enjoying flying your Lightings? What´s being achieved for real flying machines? Anyone under 800?

When we weighed my Lightning, just before she got her airworthiness, she came in at 789lbs...

I'm impressed, mine weighs 832 without the interior, gear clean-up or autopilot.
