I wonder if we are going about this the wrong way; trying to name the newsletter after the Lightning when it really should be about the company and the great products that Arion is making? I mean, what happens when they come out with that four seat design, or the tail dragger and name them something else?
Just a thought…

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the name suggestion, but personally I don't think that name will fly. To my way of thinking it just doesn't have the right "ring", plus I don't think the newsletter should have someone's name in it. Even though it really isn't my name in the newsletter (Buz is a name; buzz is a noise - that's my thought), I really wouldn't feel comfortable with that. Besides, at some point in the future, someone else will take over the newsletter (hopefully sooner rather than later).
I started the newsletter because it needed to be done. The factory guys are too busy to do it and even thought I suggested it to several Lightning builders at the first Lightning Fly-In, no one seemed to "get the hint". So being a big believer in the product and the guys that developed it, I thought it would be a way for me to help out until someone else steps up. And that's a hint for someone out there to start thinking about doing this job at some future point. I am pretty busy with all the aviation volunteer work I do, and even though it keeps me busy and on the go, I love it all and feel it is important for me to give back. I consider the SYI team as close friends and want to see them continue to grow the company and the airplane - make that airplanes, because I really like the Jabiru line of aircraft as well.
Blue Skies,
Buz

I think Jim is onto something as apparently several others do. Here are some suggestions we already have that incorporate the name Arion:
Arion’s Voice, The Arion Authority, The Arion Discharge and Thr Arion Flash. Once again, I don't think too much about the Arion Discharge, even though lightning is an electrical discharge. Sounds too much like some bad medical condition.

I like Arion Flash also; it conjures up the Lightning for now and who knows what in the future. Also, sounds a bit like a newspaper.

Good point. That's exactly what happened to the Gromman Club which is named the American Yankee Association based on the first 2-place product. Now there is an ongoing discussion about changing the name to include the other models (iger, Cheetah, Cougar and the other AA-1 models.
Just when I thought we were approaching agreement on a name.

I think the four names all sound good, but we might be overlooking an exposure. If the company name is included in the N/L title, it may imply that Arion agrees with, and supports all of the content. Since newsletters, like blogs, contain much opinion and anecdotal information, this potentially could create a problem for Arion. If others agree that this is an exposure, and we incorporate Arion in the name, perhaps a disclaimer should be included to distance Arion from data they would not support.
Just my thoughts.

So I've got another suggestion for a name. After a brief search on the internet, I found the following names for different newspapers along with their meanings. These names usually follow another word, sometimes a city name, a state name, or even specific idea. My research can be found below:
Gazette – an official journal, many times published by government
Chronicle – recording of historical events, giving equal weight to important and arbitrary information, for the purpose of recording and sharing events
Herald - Foreshadow
Observer – one who observes, not involved
Dispatch – official report sent by haste
Star – celestial body
Time - a unit of measure
Packet – a small package or bundle
Reporter – that which reports
Examiner – that which examines
Courier – a messenger
Messenger – carries a message
Guardian – defender of persons or property
Telegraph – Greek for writing afar
Journal – daily written record of experiences and events
Standard – regular and widely used
Advertiser – that which advertises
Constitution – a set of principles that specify something
Out of all of the above I think that the defintion of Chronicle would be what fits the newsletter most appropriately. It is a record of something that I think will make history. It does attempt to let the people be the voice and therefore gives equal weight to each story. It was concieved in order to share information and events and as a way of creating a record to help others who are trying to find additional information. Based on that and the previously mentioned needing to stay true to the company name more than the model name, I'd propose the name:
"The Winged Horse Chronicle(s)".
I thought it had a nice ring to it. Kind of sounds like a saloon in the U.K. Yep, replace Chronicles with the word tavern and I'm pretty sure that place exists. Just a few more thoughts and another name suggestion. Eventually we'll settle on a name I'm sure. Brian W.

Good research, Brian. I will talk about the whole newsletter name issue with Nick and Pete while I am in SYI. Hope to fly out there either this Thursday or Friday depending on weather and winds. Will probably be there about a week, then home to get ready for Sun-N-Fun.

I liked the Lightning Buzz name right away. It had nothing to do with the name of the writer, I think it is a great name, it does "strike" something in me.
The future planes from Arion may have different names and the author will change but the name Lightning Buzz will still fit.
Every plane Arion builds from now on would not exist if the lightning did not exist. So the legacy of the Lightning will remain in some way.
Having a part that resembles the name of the creator included in the name is a nice way of showing recognition and appreciation for the initiative.
But , whatever the name happens to be, I d like to thank Buz for his work,
Yhol,
A future Lightning buyer
