Ok, please don’t get tired of me bringing this up every now and then, but it is time once again to remind you that if you have not added yourself to the Lightning Frapper Map, please do so. It is a great way to find other Lightning owners, and dealers. You can also go back and edit, or add information about your Lighting/Esqual experience after the fact.
Still waiting for a Shelbyville pin; the most important one.
Here are a few tips for entering your information.
There are three different color pins, (I can add more if needed)
- Use yellow for Lightning
- Use blue for Esqual
- Use red if you are a dealer/distributer
Use the "shoutout" field to describe yourself, or add your web address.
For instance
Green Landings Flight Center
www.greenlandings.com
304-754-6010
The map is not perfect and has some bugs, but it IS a great way to us to see at a glance where everyone is, and for new customers to gather information about distributers Lightning owners.
Jim!

Jim,
I have to agree with Allan. I have not looked at it in a while, but when I did, it was not obvious how to add yourself. Yea, I know, I am not a computer savvy guy. I need "GPS turn by turn directions".

Sounds good Buz. No rush. Unfortunately, I can't be there in time for the two get togethers; (I'll be there Friday and Saturday), as some of us non-retired guys need to work during the week. (Oh, for that job in aviation.... sigh...)
Look forward to seeing the gang!
Then when I get back, we can put my bird in the air!

Jim,
I have tried to add my brothers lightning kit to the map but it seems to have a mind of its own.
The photo and name were accepted but the location gets screwed up and it will not accept the changes I put in.
My brothers name is John Frensch, and I am helping him buils kit No 36. the location is Port Victoria, in South Australia.
For some reason the map seems to take this as some place in France and not in Australia . Hope you can help.
Regards Helmut Frensch.

Hi Helmut,
I think it sees your last name (Frensch) and thinks that is where you belong. Darn computers. For two good Aussie beers Jim will probably fix it for you. The second one is for me.

Hi Helmut. I just went through and moved my location to my mother’s house in NJ and back. Here is what you do…
When you log on to the map, your information will pop up off of your pin. I think this is called a shout out and it looks like a square cloud. Inside of this is a like that allows you to “Move this Pin”. Select this and type in the correct address. I tried it the first time and it kind of froze. I got out of the map and went back and tried it again and it worked. Frapper has some bugs to it and I might just create one on my web site that has a bit more flexibility, but with that , you would not be able to add and edit on your own. This is what makes the Frapper concept so nice, but the beta is a bit confusing.
We’ll give it a little more time, and if it does not get better, I will do one myself.
Let me know if this does not work for you and I will try to figure something else out.
Also, if anyone else knows of another Frapper type of map that is better, post a link to the list.
Jim!

Thanks for the reply Jim,
I have now moved the pin to Australia but for some reason it will not recognise Port Victoria in South Australia, but has placed the pin in Victoria which is a neighbouring state. I think I will need a case of beer and a couple of bottles of red to settle down before I try again.
Cheers Helmut.

No problems, mate. Just wanted to be sure you know there had been three issues. I am now in Florida for Sun-N-fun and may not have must time to do e-mails when the show starts. I do volunteer work with the American Bonanza society.
