I just hung a brand new exhaust system on my 912ULS and find the
banjo bolt is closer to the muffler heat shield than previously.
It could just be an optical illusion with all that bright shiny metal there
for the first time in a long time. I've lengthened the down pipe of
number 1 cylinder a fair bit with the slide.

Does anyone know the reasonable minimal distance between shield
and bolt?

Thanks,

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> Ira,
I use about a half inch from the banjo bolt to the muffler, primarily to give clearance for the clamp and of course the silver heat shielding to protect the oil line. I have run as little as 1/4 of an inch from the muffler heat shield to the clamp which went around the heat sleeve material over the oil line and clamp.

Check also the engine hasn't started to sag a little, as the mounting bolt spacers may need to be adjusted to get the engine back to level so the muffler will clear the cowl / ducting.

The joys of aircraft ownership.
