If anyone has an XS monowheel sitting on a factory-supplied trailer
with wings stowed for travel, a yardstick and measuring tape, and a bit
of spare time, I have a request. Could you please:
1. Establish a waterline at the bottom door sill, extending aft from
the rear edge of the door about 18 inches.
2. Measure down 10".
3. Record the distance from the side of the fuselage at that point out
to the surface of the wing.
In the interest of drag reduction, I've been working on a fuselage/wing
fillet which mates w/ the standard XS wing fairing just forward of the
spar. Of necessity, a portion of this fillet will be attached to the
wing, a portion to the flap, and a portion to the fuselage. I am trying
to establish the location of the joints, and the extent to which the
portion attached to the fuselage can extend beyond the surface of the
fuselage without impacting the wing when trailering is the big unknown.
A few pixs below explain the general form this fillet is taking
Your assistance would be much appreciated.
Fred

Hi! Fred.
You need to take care to allow for wing deflection with your fillet
fairing and can easily finish up with it too tight making it difficult
to assemble the wings and causing fretting on the fuselage sies. Too
loose and you finish up with gaps. Your shapes look good. However take a
look at my "rendition" at ......http://www.crix.org.uk
Of course I don't know what contribution to drag reduction it makes but
I believe it saves air run off the flap inboard end with flaps deployed
to a degree and it blocks off the flap actuating tube slot.

Thank you Bob...several fellows whom I've talked w/ have advised that I
allow for wing flex; I agree it's an issue and I think it can be
resolved....Fred
