I just got back last week from a vacation trip that I think
would be an awesome destination for any RV-10 owner.
My wife and I, along with Ed Hayden and Vic Syracuse and
their wives, went to the Bahamas for a few days.
It's really easy to fly over there, and it was some
fantastic scenery. Highly recommended if you ever get
the urge to go to a nice tropical destination.

				Tim,
Great writeup on your trip! this is also something I hope to do in the future and your info will be remarkably helpful not to mention taking some of the anxiety out of planning the trip.

  Thanks,
  Marcus

It was absolutely MUCH easier to do than I would have imagined
even with what you read on the "how to's" for getting in and
out of the Bahamas. You literally can just have your passport
and sticker in hand, call up FSS and file a flight plan, and
once it's filed just activate it and use VFR flight following
and go. When you get there it's really no worry getting in.
And leaving isn't really a big deal either. You file the plan,
advise customs...call customs with your ETA, and then just fly.
Once you get there, it's some paperwork and a little
hassle...more than in the Bahamas....but it'll be well under
an hour and you'll be on your way somewhere else.

The only thing that everyone will have to do that we didn't,
is that within a month you'll have to log on electronically
to EAPIS and file your stuff in advance.

Probably the worst paper/electronic mess there is, is navigating
the DTOPS and EAPIS websites....getting registered and set up
with a customs sticker is a real pain in the butt, as their
site and process isn't intuitive at all. I was going to
do the voluntary EAPIS filing but I just gave up because it
wasn't something I could accomplish on the spur of the moment.
For the U.S. Fed paperwork and items, plan ahead. For the
 rest there isn't much worry.

				now you've done it...

I don't have the cabin top attached yet, but I think I'll just skip
that part, hang the engine and prop, put some gas in this thing and
 start flying.
