Ok Can I get some clarification and the search function did not come up with any responses worries me I may be in the wrong..

On the plans page 6-C-4 03/06 Part No 6C4-1 located on the fwd side of the canopy handle assembly shows it facing aft towards the handle.

When I measured the location this part inter-fears with the FWD hoop bracket 6-C3-9 . also the photo guide shows it reversed from the plans.

Which is correct? It works reversed to the plan. Was there a correction I missed? Also the plans do not say what type of rivets to use. Steel part to steal Support bracket.. AL rivets or SS rivets?

 Chris..

Chris, I suggest you write (or better call) Zenith for clarification on this. I have the new style CH650 fuselage but my photo/instructional guide is of the CH601 so I can't help you in that respect. My point is that Zenith is putting out kits without updating the information on their website. That is just wrong. I would hate to "assume" anything and install something wrong myself. I hope Zenith responds to you in a timely manner and updates their website soon.

 Tailwinds,

 Larry Hursh

				Chris-
You really had me worried for a moment.
The only thing I can think of is you're measuring from the end of the
"Foot" of 6C4-1 rather than at the intersection of the bend. That's the only
way you could be off more than 2mm whether the fitting was faced forward or
 aft.
I just measured my side rail and there's tons of room between where the
fitting is and where the front hoop is supposed to go. I used the print
dimensions and welded 6C4-1 to the square tubing. Picture attached, hope
 this helps.

                     Bill

Can you measure from the bolt hole at the FWD end of the Side frame to the front hoop bracket 6C3-9 and also to the center of the vertical part of the 6C4-1 that you welded..

 so 2 measurements.
 Fwd hoop bracket is 510mm
next is the cable support at 6C4-1 at ???mm
 Chris..

				Chris-
Sorry it took a while to get back to you- I've been trying to do some
yard work between the local monsoons.
I get about 590mm to 6C4-1, depending on where you're measuring to. I
think I see what your concern is. The hoop bracket 6C3-9 has a foot that's
60mm long, and that will overlap the foot of 6C4-1 by about 20mm when placed
per the print. BUT, that doesn't interfere with placement of the frony hoop.
I haven't placed my hoops yet (I'm just closing up the cockpit and have
to polish at least the edges before mounting the canopy) but there's no
interference whatsover in the 510mm region for the front hoop. I'll jog the
foot of 6C3-9 to fit over the foot of 6C4-1. If what I'm seeing is what
you're worried about, I don't see any reason you can't reverse 6C4-1 to
eliminate the jog. I'm sure as hell not moving mine at this point!
If that's not what your problem is, both Larry Mac and I have noticed
differences in the print dimensions vs what you need for an HDS (Entire rail
 is about 1/2" too long). I don't know what you're building and I haven't
seen any complaints posted by XL builders, so if you're building an XL this
 should be a non-issue.
How's your panel positioned in relation to the firewall, and do you have
the new or old style motor mounts?

                     Bill

				Chris,
Have you looked at installing thr 650 canopy latches. They are much more secure in the latching of the canopy. I have the old installed and I am not really happy with how secure they are. I have the new ones all cut out ready for welding. Aircraft Spruce has all the material. The plans are on the Zenith 650 web site, plus a couple of other places with photos also. (65-C-1 and -2). I believe you can buy the parts from Zenith also.
 Just a thought.
