				| Richard, Apart from covers it's worth considering getting rid of the ring in
the pip pins so that all of the holes can be much smaller. A small piece of
steel in the hole the ring goes through allows you to fish the pip pin out
and replace it with a tool that has a spiral groove that screws on to the
pip pin and pulls up the central portion of it, thus disengaging the pips.
The tool is only about a centimetre in diameter, (lives on the ignition key
ring), and the access holes in the tail planes and wing roots only need to
be slightly wider. This makes the system pretty much tamper proof, so that
no passing youth can readily go off with a pip pin to see how well the plane
flies without it, and also covering the hole with a small circle of sticky
white plastic is neat and easy. Regards, David Joyce, G-XSDJ

				| I like that idea David, would you mind emailing me a pic or details
of the tool sometime please (no rush).
 Much appreciated,

				| Even simpler, get rid of the ring and just make a hook from some stiff wire.
It's very easy to just hook the pins out. The same hook works on the wing
pins. This leaves you with a hole just big enough to get the pip pin down.

				| It helps to mark the orientation of the hole on the head of the pip pin because
it is not easy to see when the pin is installed. I found that the small long
nosed pliers I carry in my travelling tool kit extract and insert the pins
with ease should a hook tool not be readily available.

				| Go to my gallery on the Europa Owners site and you will see a couple of pics
of "Split-Ring" pliers. They are just the thing with a flat arm on one side
and the other is bent at 90 degrees it does the perfect job.

				| Hi All,
Some time ago "somewhere" I saw some photographs where a pair of long nosed
pliers were modified so the ends of the were bent / ground so that the would
go into the holes in side of he pip pin where the ring normally goes. It
seemed to be a neat idea, does this ring a bell with anyone ?

				| Paul,
I also saw that photo and made a pair of the long nose pliers for the pip
pins. Just get a pair of needle
nose pliers and cut off one end, then bend the other "long" end over so it
 touches. Works great on
the pip pins. Take out the ring and you have a great remove and installer.

				| Paul,
Those were my pliers that I did. What happens was that the metal was
hardened and the bend didn't last. Then I found the split ring pliers at
Bass Pro Shot and they are perfect.

				| If you push a suitable rod (small screwdriver) up through the drain hole it will retract the locking balls and push the pip-pin up without needing any special tools.
This way you can make the pip pin holes just big enough for the pin itself.

We only worked this out after spending hours making a screw cap for the pip-pins before deciding that a couple of cm of tape was neater, lighter and simpler.
