The door pins I am referring to are the RivetHead door pins that contain

magnets. They screw into the end of the C-1011 and C-1012 latch pins. The

C-1011 and C-1012 are the forward / aft tubes that extend into the door

frame when latching.



I have tapped my tubes but the threads seem "loose" although they do hold

properly when the door pins are fully screwed on. Perhaps this is because of

the course nature of the threads.

I have the same RivetHead pins and noticed my threads a bit loose as well. 

I used red loctite high strength.  They are now very secure.

LES,

    technically, the threads formed inside the door rods (with a tap) are 

not formed with the correct minor diameter because the inside diameter is 

not quite small enough. But,

 there is still plenty of "meat" for the threads to form on the rods. this 

will cause the magnetic tip to seem sloppy when screwing it on. once the 

shoulders mate, and cinched together the slop will disappear.

    If you think you need a little more:

once the length is established there should be no reason to remove the 

bullet ends, so maybe a jb weld or structural epoxy would be a better 

choice over locktite. (not very good at filling voids)

 Also (another option) I've found that replacing the door rods with hard 

steel brake lines from napa worked well . the walls are thicker so they tap 

out to a tighter fit .
