Is there some method in place for us enthusiasts to find each other
while at SnF? I plan to be there Thurs - Fri.
 (without my KF, sadly)

Kurt and I are planning to meet each other while at Sun n Fun Thursday.
I see on the SnF website that WiFi is available there. If anyone who may
already be there should read this message please advise of an easily
defined location or method you are aware of to use as a meeting point.
At this time we are going to use cell phones to communicate and pick a
location once we are there. It would be nice if all Kitfoxers had an
idea where we might likely encounter each other. Like, will there be a
Kitfox tiedown area? Is there a vendor there that is a KF enthusiast we
could coordinate with? Any other ideas?

Keep using your cell phones, the wifi is not working at Sun n Fun. I just
got back today from a wonderful week of perfect weather in Lakeland. Not
 many foxes this year.

Yes I too have returned from Lakeland. Disappointing for me that there
was only 1 Kitfox that arrived today around noon. I was hoping to meet
and see other Kitfoxers. I never made it over where he parked before the
airshow, but Kurt did after the airshow. Kurt may offer a report when he
 gets back on the list.
There was a Model 1 (I think) on static display and that was all for
actual Kitfoxes. I did't see any Avids either, but there was a company
named RLSA which is importing the EuroFox. They had one on diplay.
 www.fly-rlsa.com or www.eurofox-usa.com Nice plane.
I met Don from South Carolina who called my cell number. It looks like
that will be the best way to find others Kitfoxers there. So if anyone
else is going to be there Saturday they should call Kurt Schrader (502)
 648-5484.

				Semper Fi Rich,

Hope to have mine there next year too.

In keeping with our subject on math, that would be a
 200% increase over this year!

Papers can announce, "Huge Increase in KitFox
 Attendance this year!"

I'm back now too. Must have packed 2 years worth of
reading materials back with me. Picked up an oil
thermostat from Lockwood and Rex effectively talked me
into a battery minder too. Guess this means I'll need
AC power to my hangar now.

Rex and I got a good look at the EuroFox and saw some
interesting details. The wing tank caps are almost
flush with the cap having only a raised ridge where
the vent pipe comes out of. The ridge is fore and
aft, so streamlined, but gives a good grip for opening
like a large wingnut. It would require a new tank
filler neck with the cap, so it is not easily
 retrofitted.

The flapperons are solid with no entry or drains, so
no problem with gas desolving the foam or rain water
getting in. The flapperon spar looked to be attached
with adel clamps on bearings with the area around the
holes completely sealed. Not sure if the adel clamp
is a good idea, but the rest looked good.

Flapperon weights were in a round pipe sticking
forward and down instead of our weights at the end.

The turtledeck formed a straight line to the tail
instead of a down and then aft line like on my S-5.
 Looked less draggy.

The rest looked very Fox like with an S-4 type stab
 and trim tabs.

RLSA said they would not provide a source for parts to
our Fox's, but ideas are free.

The yellow Fox that came and went was a S-4 with 912,
I believe. I didn't copy more info than that.

There were 4 planes with Corvair engines parked near
the Yellow Fox. The KR-2 had the cowl off and I got a
couple of pics, if anyone was interested in a corvair
installation. I think the builder told me it was
about 210 lbs installed. Seems heavy for a KR-2.

It was very dry there this year. A parked car set
fire to the grass and burned up 23 cars total. For
once the smoke and major damage was ground
 transportation and not planes.

				Kurt,
You'll love the oil thermostate, the engine warms up real fast and maintains between 180 and 200, then again I have a big cooler for the oil. you will like it on how fast it warms the engine on start up, I generally can be ready to go with 100+ oil temp with outside temp at 35degree f. in about 5 minutes. I also have a battery tenter and I like that as well.

I was walking around Wednesday only.
Saw two from Michigan, I think. They were with an Avid over int the camping
area. Saw a yellow one on the flight line. Blue one in the UL area and the
one on the trailer. Talked with the guys from up north for a minute. Nice
 fellas considering they were Yankees.

				Andrew,
So, how was your trip to FL.
Did you pick a place to get things rolling?
I think your getting in at a good time to find a job.
