Hi all,

I bought a trailer which I have to adapt for the Trigear (XS, Airmaster-prop). The trailer-company asked me for the hight of the cabin/door-top (no Hightop-version) and the outer width of the main undercarriage. I sent an e-mail to the Europa-company already who didn't reply yet.

Since the plane I bought is still in England, waiting for me to pick it up in the trailer, I would really appreciate, if anyone could give me the figures I need (someone who don't have to drive 1000 kilometres to his plane).

Thanks in advance!

Roland

Hi Roland,

My Trigear is every bit of 1000 mm from my kitchen table so it did not take long to measure it.

OK U/C width including spats comes to 1.97 Mtr (8cm less without spats).
Height to highest point of cabin door 1.53 Mtr.

WARNING Not all Europas are identical so allow for a bit of variability.

Hope this helps

Pete

Pete,

of course your rapid answer in metric figures helps-thank you! - also for the useful hint about the variability.

The trailer was originally built for a Fascination with a (retractable) U/C-width of only 1,68 m - the guy of the trailer-company said, that U/C width of up to 2,05 metres should be no problem to adapt. I have to remove the spades anyway for fixing the aircraft on the trailer. I'm curious if it's practicable to mount them before each flight - but their abstinence should not cost more than five knots.

Good to know about such a support in the forum - confirms my decision to buy a Europa and become part of the "Europa-family".

Re Spats and fitting before each flight. Not impossible but I suspect the novelty may wear off. It would take almost as long as rigging the aircraft itself. Fitting spats and flap arm fairings gives about 8 kts on max speed.

Roland,
I, as most other Europa owners, are always pleased to try to help our fellow owners. It is good to have you on the list. Out of interest where are you?

Pete

Hi I have just bought an open trailer which suits an XS trigear and I have
been drawing up plans to make it covered. the height of the fin above ground
is aprox 2100mm and to top of cabin door [high top] 1600 but as it is a
trigear when loading [in my case backwards] the fin moves up 600mm during
the initial move up the ramps! Have not worked that bit out yet.
If you are stuck and want to fetch your plane you are welcome to borrow it
as an open trailer, but be quick as I will start to modify it soon. Regards
Richard

Richard,

thanks for your generous offer to borrow me your trailer! I hope to have my trailer adapted within a few weeks.

Of great interest for me is the hoist point for winching up the plane.

Thank you!
