				Kolb guys,

I thought I'd share a picture or two of my NEW droop wingtips.  I had made a previous
set of droop tips, but for reasons I don't want to go into, I decided to make some new ones.

These are my design, and not patterned after anyone else's, as far as I know.  As with so
many things, I find the second time around I improve on most of the details.  The newest set
is quite a bit lighter than the first set, since I learned how much the thickness can be reduced to.
To be honest, cosmetically I think  the first set was better, but as far as I give a hoot, these are
  'good enough'!!
Note;  Although they are presently completely white, the will get blue and yellow striping when I get
around to the accent colors.  I've left the accent colors as my 'absolutely' very last thing to do on the
plane, which shouldn't be too much longer now (yeah, right!).

When I built my first set of wingtips, I built TWO separate molds.  I matched the dimensions as best
as I could, and I think they came out reasonably simetrical.  This time around, I thought I'd try
something a little different!!  Rather than build two units, I decided to build ONE unit....kind of like a
pontoon, where eventually I cut it in half.  My thinking was I could control the shape much easier
if a eyeballed a single structure.  (look at the photos, you'll see what I mean).

I did NOT build a mold, and then inlay the wingtips.  Rather, I just shaped the mold, and then overlaid
it with the final product of fiberglass.  This is NOT the best way to do fiberglass parts, but it can be
a little easier if you're only building one item.

The second wingtip (the right side) is in the painting prep stage, and should be an easy job to paint it
by tomorrow morning.  BTW, the Nav Lts and strobes are from a Beech Duchess.  99% of my electrical is
done, and the lights work really well.

This time I also decided to try to use that pink foam sheet insulation that I got from Home Depot.  The urathane
stuff is easier, but it does cost a fortune!!!  For the money, this stuff worked out reasonably well.  I used
"Great Stuff" insulating foam as my glue to stick the various pieces together.  That, too, was a pretty good
idea.  It worked out well.  Once I got the shaped satisfactory, I covered the entire structure in that 'rapid set'
drywall mix.  Rapid set my $#(at)!  Whatever!  At any rate, after it's dry enough, it works out great for final
shaping (it sands real nice).  After I had the final shaping completed, I painted the top surface with latex enamel to seal it.
Then I used melted candle wax as a release agent and covered it evenly.   Then, on to fiberglassing the top side.....
I built the wingtips in two parts.  The upper surface, and then the lower surface.  After I cut the center
dividing line on the top and bottom surfaces, I mated the top left to bottom left, and top right to bottom right.
Then, it was just a matter of smoothing them and prepping for paint.
