				Hi there Friends

My prop is coming up for overhaul, and it will have to go to the guys here in South Africa, there is only one place that will do it....the sad news, I have heard of hassles being had after the overhaul....

I am wondering what are the tricks to this overhaul? are the seals very specific? Is there anything that needs to be checked on before and after the work is done so I can be sure that the work has been done correctly!

 Cheers and thanks

Francois.... what propeller and aircraft models are you referring to?

This would help to provide a more specific answer to your question.

We have hub parts including new seals, piston assemblies, cylinder dome
assemblies, pitch change blocks and thrust bearings in stock if needed.

The Contact name at Aerostar is Christian Dragori. I have lost his #’s though.

For those that are wanting to do this, it is a simple fabrication. The
nose case must have the left side (as seen from the cockpit) round
access panel. Usually found on Series II engines. But not always
 associated with Series II.

Obtain a piece of clear Plexiglas, 1/4" thick, large enough to cover the
opening in the nose case when the round access panel is removed. Cut the
Plexiglas to size and secure it to the nose case with the screws/bolts
removed from the metal access panel. You will need a new gasket. That's it.

Great idea, but I think I would use Lexan- a lot tougher. TAP Plastic shops usually have small pieces.

Francois, sorry I didn't realize you mentioned the name of the aircraft in the title of the thread.

Have you considered the option of doing the overhaul overseas and then just installing the finished product in SA? Just PM you some detailed info that should be quite helpful if you consider that option.
