Any other recommendations out there for ipad or iphone apps for flying in the UK and near continent? I have been away for a while and haven't been keeping up to date with them.

  Hi Kevin,

We've been using SkyCharts Pro for a year and a half and really like it. Not as many bells & whistles as ForeFlight but less expesnive. Gives updates for all the charts and approach plates for $20 / year. No flight planning but does give a magenta line and shows your position, nearest airports, ETA, etc. TFRs, METARs & TAFs show when connected to WIFI (or as of last connection if you enable it).

We use NavMonster for flight planning. The winds forecast showing headwind / tailwind and the predicted flight time is great! It's at www.navmonster.com

We have XM weather on our EFIS. The $35 / mo package is adequate for our needs, and you can suspend it for months when you won't be flying and restart with no additional fee.

				Hi there,

I don’t know if you consider Auxerre (LFLA) as "near continent" ... but we
use AirNav Pro on iPhone and iPad here. Very cheap and easy to use,
providing moving map with elevation inputs and VACs (for France and GMY) and
METARs and NOTAMs plus HSI and route and nearest fields...
The only bad point is that you need to keep the GSM running on the iPhone
and it may ring and perturbate your instruments...
By the way iPad is a bit too large during landing and take-off to sit on
knees, and not easy to fix on the panel. Any solution out there?

I use a Seasucker to mount my IPad. It clamps on to the panel and can
 work on many configurations.
