publicity hoax (i.e. not really at mv, but at hauck's hollar), i'd enjoy knowing
the folks by name in the little gathering in pic # 3, if possible. tnx. j

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. I had two good crack of dawn morning flights in the Firefly that were great for photography! Here's another shot flying over the bluff behind Gouldings Lodge, looking down on the Lodge facility and airstrip. Lots of planes were up flying at that point. The other is looking up the canyon road toward the campground, where lots of Airstreams and Kolb campers are parked. The terrain around the area is pretty spectacular.

I'll take a crack at ID'ing the folks in photo 3 but will need some help since I can't tell who a couple are.... from the left under John W's Kolbra wing are George (AZ Bald Eagle), Eve Pelletier (AZ Dave's wife), need help and John W, best I can tell. Under the other wing, facing the camera, is Bill Herren, Luscombe driver, need help, AZ Dave, Boyd Young (could be wrong) and can't tell but it might be John H. Others that are in the picture can hopefully fill in the blanks.

Do you happen to have a photo with a good overhead of the airstrip?

Here's the best shot of the strip I have from this year. All that is missing is a little bit of the other end of the dirt strip with open desert beyond. The first part is paved and the rest is dirt... goes downhill on takeoff to the North so landings are landing uphill from the north. Kolbs are generally off the ground before the pavement ends on takeoff. The runway comes up to greet you so you just flare and the runway plus sink makes for easy landings... except for rookies that haven't done it before... many first timers have a rough landing or two until they get the hang of it. Maybe others have a better photo to share.
