ANOTHER THOUGHT ON ALIGNMENT

When you get around to actually adjusting camber / toe, re-drilling holes, etc; please remember that WEIGHT makes a difference. If you make alignment corrections with wings off or folded, you may regret it.

Before making any corrections, you need the airplane assembled in normal flying configuration WITH PILOT IN SEAT. Get a helper to plant his but in the aircraft seat before you drill holes.

The added weight will make the gear legs want to spread – let them. With race cars, we use greased plates to let wheels move freely; but that’s overkill here. Just be aware and let the wheels move where they want to go before fixing alignment.

the use of grease plates is good for planes as well... I was amazed to see
how much movement I got in the gear with the use of grease plates.
