It was a new vacuum pump. I installed it about 4 years ago.

I agree with Greg .... the only thing that wears significantly are the vanes. That pump must have had a really dried out and hard coupling to keep the rotor turning enough to break it .... in that many pieces. Did the coupling shear??? 'Tis a puzzlement!

Yes, the coupling sheared. The shaft and gear look ok. There are very light scratches around the inside of the housing.
I just replaced another one with almost 900 hours on it that had failed. Same make and model.

So, which make and model? If it were me, I'd send the pictures to the manufacturer and ask .... Why???
