Bogert Bar Crack

I am surprised to see this crack on the Bogert Bar. It has been lightly 

used but 5 years old now. Anybody see something similar?

I'veÂ replaced a few between my plane and customers'. Â  Bogert warrantied them and last time said something about a product improvement.Â

I have seen quite a few of them cracked. Some people leave them open when not in use, which leaves them under tension, which causes them to crack. I don’t know how many I have seen left locked open, but it is a lot of them.

Looks like the nose gear on my -10 about two years ago. ðŸ˜œðŸ˜œ

Relieving pressure before storage is always a good idea but the design/metallurgy shouldn't be that weak in any case.

Mine cracked a few years back while using it on grass. Repaired the

weld, fabricated and welded flat plate gussets to both sides of the

tubes.

I always left mine without tension. I just replaced mine for a crack in the same area. 4 years old.
