Folks,

Shopping for map lights and dome lights on the interwebs is hard. How do you select something when all you can see is a small picture? Ugh. Do you have any personal recommendations?
Map lights should have switches at the base.
Dome light should not have a switch (because I will install a remote switch near the door).
Thanks,

For map lighting, I went with one of these.

Black with 4 white LED's.

For cabin lighting, I used Perko lights. They are the lights that many Velocity builders use (available at West Marine and other marine supply stores).

But since I have a 28v electrical system, I made some changes. I removed the incandescent light and installed a set of blue and white LED's. Then I put in SPDT switches to select between Off, white and blue lights.

Art,
Check Aircraft Spruce. Search for LED Lighting and look under Cockpit/Cabin Lighting. There’s a lot of different styles from which to choose.

Art,
I used an AVEO EyeBeam-mini in my Glasair. A bit pricy, but the design is beautiful and functional. The eyeball lets you put light wherever you need it and it has capacitive integral switch/dimmer/red light.

I had/have an interference problem with my specific installation that AVEO engineers had never encountered. When I key my mike, the light starts flashing and the capacitive on/off switch becomes in op until power is physically disconnected. After unsuccessful attempts to fix it with ferrite toroids, I installed a small on/off/dimmer switch on the housing and in the power feed to fix it.

Cheers,
John
