If you examine the housing at the base of the
terminals, I think you will see a letter "I"
on the left one, and I forget what's usually
on the right one . . . an "S" perhaps?
In any case, the I terminal is used for your
'stuck starter' light (optional) and the
starter push button delivers power to the right
terminal. The diode (1N540X series) installs
as shown . . . with terminals of course . . . never
wrap wires around threaded posts in an airplane.

Go to an auto parts store and if it looks
like that one, it will work. That's
one of those exceedingly generic parts
by probably hundreds of manufacturers.
Here's one example that claims to be
"heavy duty" truck-rated. $8.50 delivered

The 'fat" terminals are interchangeable.
