"fish scales on floor pan"

Boy PlaneCrazzzy has too much time on his hands. Too many Z's in his name too. I'm jealous as hell though. I want that enclosure and the fish scale floor pan, and the checkerboard seat cushions. I better get busy and earn some Z's for my name too.

Hey Thanks!......( I think )

Those fish scales were done in only a couple of hours....

And I sewed my upholstery on a regular sewing mach....just bought upholstery thread & needle....

It's gonna take a little more for the windscreen....but the same thing could be done by just bolting /Riveting it together....

Main thing is....get inspired....make a wish list of things "ta do"

Hi Mike
I am curious to what type of tool you used to do the fish scales ,it looks
like a sanding disk, would you please elaborate?
Thank you in advance

Hi Bill,
It's an angle grinder with Scuff pads (2") The WD is put on to avoid
build up on the pad which would start gauling the aluminum....

The way I laided out the piece was about 1"x1" ( a little bigger )

In one row , I would center the pad where the lines crossed....
In the next row , I'd center in the middle , between the squares....
Next row , back on the crossed lines....

Below is a picture with the air tool in it....

Hey Bill I cheat, I buy it in rolls of vinyl and cut it to fit. Comes in large or small engine turn, gold, silver, even diamond plate. Wouldn't want to use it on a floor though. I also cut letters from 1/4" to 23" in height.
Doesen't hurt to have a vinyl cutter.

Well,
After looking at my Lift Struts....I've tried to polish them .... But they have to be handled so much , they get scratched up....

What hides scratches.....

These things weren't easy to do because of the curve that I'm trying to go around...
