In the manual for my M3X it says to drill the cable tang out to 1/4" on the cable attach end. It looks like the fit of the cable thimble is better before drilling.
I've looked thru a bunch of pictures i've taken of other peoples planes but that level of detail is hard to find. I'm sure the M3X Kolb had (at) Sun-n-Fun last year did not have the tangs drilled. I'm resonably sure at least one other plane i have pics of does have the tangs drilled to 1/4".
What has everyone else done? Drilled or not?
Thanks!

Bryan at Custom air tells me that the old tangs were 3/16 and needed to be drilled out. However the new tangs are 7/32. So yu are right and wrong. I would drill out to 7/32 not 1/4.

Steve,
Thanks, you saved me a phone call to Bryan as i was going to call him this afternoon. My tangs are 3/16 now so they need to be drilled. I also received a message back channel saying they need to be drilled. I guess it's time to break out the carbide and do a little drilling.

Scott,
They are pretty easy to drill, Just make sure to clamp it down good, they have a habit of grabbing the bit.

Yup ! ! ! For drilling thin metal, or fairly thick for that matter, I haven't found anything that cuts as smoothly as a unibit, or leaves such a nicely finished hole. With care, it'll even leave it chamfered for ya. Keep it in the plastic sleeve between uses. The cutting edges chip easily. Lar.
