Please go to this link where you can tell your congressman that you are
against aviation user fees. It's easy and takes only a minute or two to
complete the form which will then be emailed to your two senators and the
representative of your district.

It is hard to fight something that the specifics of have not been released yet.

This excerpt is from the EAA website:

“The budget proposal includes the framework to establish a user-fee program for various aviation services; a nearly four-fold increase in the fuel tax paid by general aviation operators (avgas and autogas); and a series of fees for access to the nation's busiest airports.”

"The budget proposal calls for increased and or the establishment of fees for aircraft certification and registration, as well as appointment and designation of designees such as those used to certificate amateur-built aircraft and light sport aircraft, and airman medical certificates."

Other than the "nearly four-fold increase in the fuel tax paid by general aviation operators (avgas and autogas)", I don't see any real big problem with paying my fair share. Fees for the paperwork are a common fact of life and impacts everyone evenly.

I am just saying, know what you are objecting to before you you sign up. The NBAA is not the group that helps to protect us from ourselves.

User Fees = A way for the government to collect more taxes, and more regulation for general aviation.

Lets me think about this one, those of us that fly paying much higher taxes than everyone else, more regulation, and an even bigger government breauacracy...

Whats not to like about it Wink

Hi
This is happening in the UK too. There is aproposal to up the tax paid on
avgas. Commercial aviation also says that it is unfair to saddle them with
paying for the total cost of providing flight services so itlooks as thought
the rest of GA is going to have to shoulder part of it.
Quite how you make the weekend pilot who uses Flight information a couple of
times a season pay for it I don`t know but the authorities will work it
out....

Cheers

It is true that I don't know all the details that are on the table.....
BUT the local news did an article stating that they wanted general aviation
to help bail out the major airline carriers that are in financial trouble...
that may or may not be the whole truth,,,, who knows what the media had for
an agenda that evening.

I am not sure how to word this,,, so here goes with reckless abandon,,, I
remember seeing an article that for every gallon of fuel used in aviation,,,
only two tablespoons of it were used in general aviation... would raising
fuel taxes help that much? I don't know, does any one have any
information that would shed light on the matter...
Another point of view.... if they want me to help bail out the
financially strapped airlines now,,,,,, do you suppose that the airlines
will "return the favor" when they get back on their feet and are turning
profits again? Again I don't know the answers.... maybe they are doing
so now.... I know that the faa has poured money for upgrades into the
airport I use, does the money come from the air carriers, taxes on ticket
sales, taxes on fuel sales at the local airport now,,, or the general public
/ tax payer of the nation....

All I know is for what services I receive I pay only a small part. And do
not feel overly burdened.
