Thanks Jesse. I was looking for indicated airspeed calculation. I have two sources of AS and they are 10+ kt different.

I don't think you can very accurately calculate indicated airspeed. The best way to check that is on the bench. That's the reference for all the others.
If indicated is off, it's time to use the manometer and figure out which one is accurate.

Thanks guys. This article will do.
Kit plane mag had an articles in Feb with a spreadsheet that used gps data to come up with errors. It is called a multipoint gps assisted AS calibration. Do not have subscription to access the file.
Seemed like a good lazy alternative to do it with.
 Do not archive.

Here is a PDF file with a scale that translates inches of water to knots. This simple rig is very accurate. It also serves to find pitot/static leaks before you have the guy on the clock doing your biannual check.

This is just a guess since I don't read kit planes, but GPS is used along with IAS and pressure/temp to calculate your TAS. I don't think GPS would be much good for calculating IAS unless you knew very precisely the winds you are flying in.

There are several programs available where you fly 3 different courses, note GPS ground speeds, and the program calculates True airspeed, with the assumption that the wind does not change while you make the measurements. Truth be told, you can do just as well by finding the wind direction (max ground speed), then do a 180 (minimum ground speed), and average the 2 numbers to get TAS. Note the pressure altitude and the OAT, pull out your E6B and change TAS into IAS.

Water manometer is a good place to start, but it won't show static errors.

I do a pitot /static test on every third transponder check.. ie, every six years.... The guy has the equipment already set up and it only adds 50 bucks to the bill... And his test rig is certified.....

Well worth it to me... YMMV...

Are they both connected to the pitot static system or does one just give you GPS speed? If they use the pitot static, and the plumbing is leak free, there is a calibration issue with one of them.

You can check the airspeed on the ground with a water manometer.
