Anyone using any wing root connectors (between inboard section of the
wing and the fuselage) for the wiring?

If you are, or have thought about using them, which ones are you using?

I have already decided to have connectors there, so that decision is
made already. I am just at a loss for what is "standard" for connectors
 there.

I don't know if there is a standard, but I know Randy used the big
 black round CPC connectors.
 Example: http://www.abletronics.com/ampconnectors/cpcseries1.html

I bought a bunch of various CPC connectors that I had planned to use
but they're all still sitting in their packages. I ended up
in favor of continuous strands. Some day I'll dig them out and
itemize them and offer them up for sale. Mouser.com is a great place
to buy them. They aren't really that cheap when you start to add in
the costs of pins, crimpers, and all the other stuff. They are
nice connectors though, if you are going to use them.

CPC connectors from mouser.com are great. I use series 1 free-hanging connectors for all wiring and just normal BNC's for coax. For the strobes I use 4 pins with the 4th being for the un-insulated wire. This allows you to wire the whole plane before installing the wings. I also use these in the
Wingtips and anywhere else that I want to be able to disconnect in the future to work on stuff.

Call me if you have more questons about this.

I know of no standard. I find Molex connectors to be the easiest to use
and most of them are keyed so they only plug in one way. In the wing
root and tips where they have the possibility of getting wet, I spray
 them liberally with Boshield.

Boshield can be found at any good boat store. Excellent for use as a moisture shield. I believe it was developed by Boeing (the 'bo' part but that may be urban legend too) for corrosion/moisture protection. You can buy it in spray can or gallon can, and when diluted it makes a great corrosion proofer ala ACF-50 and the like. Doesn't seem to attract dust/dirt like the CRC line.

I plan on using something that no one else has mentioned. Where there is a
simple positive/ negative connection, I plan on using something that is used
extensively in radio controlled vehicle electrical systems, They are called
 Deen's connectors.

I have already decided to have connectors there, so that decision is made

The one that Stein sells for $31 or so. It seems to work great with the open pins, which Series 1 CPC’s are. If you are going to have all small wires, then going with Series 2 is “better” because they have barrel pins, but then you have to do something else with your strobes, landing lights, pitot heat, etc, so you are really stuck with the Series 1 for the wing root. Stein sells it as a crimper for Molex type pins, which the CPC’s look like, but are better. Also, there are 3-4 different qualify of CPC pins and I get the best or second best of two sizes, 18-16 and 24-20. The pins are the most expensive part of the system (and arguably by far the most important).

				Niko,

Just in case you didn't realize it you can use the series 1 for multiple size pins. I used one connector for lights, pitot and servos and a 4 pin Molex for the strobe (ran the wiring separated from the rest).

I am going to use the Series 2 for the autopilot servo and Series 1 for the Lights etc as you mention. Thanks for the info.
