John,
You sure are wound tight aren't you. It seems as though every group has at least one.

It is my opinion that comparing other designs to our beloved Kolbs is certainly relevant on this list. If it offends you, hit delete. You knew what this thread was about simply by the subject line. You did not have to read it if bothers you so.

Hi Bryan:

Wound tight!!! Naw. Not me.

I have a feeling you took my signature block the wrong way, as me calling you a Challenger Wannabie. Not at all. I was down in Wetumpka at my gal friend's eating pork chops tonight. Was reading my mail and saw my post to the Kolb List. Figured somebody was gonna take the sig block the wrong way.

Sorry about that.

Should have redone it, more like:

signed:

Challenger Wannabie or Anonymous Challenger Wannabie

BTW: I don't think there is much to compare between a Kolb and a Challenger. Guess that is why a Challenger never appealed to me. And.........if I wanted to know more about Challengers, I think I would go over to the Challenger List to find out.

All this Challenger info in the recent past, and I have not learned anything about a Challenger that I wanted.

This Challenger's empty weight is nearly 800 pounds (!!),>>

Good grief, no wonder he can`t climb. I weigh 0ver 200lbs, probably more
with my flying kit on, and my Challenger with a 503 delivered a climb of
better than 500 ft per min. for the first 500ft and just a little less to
1000ft..

It is no good just applying rudder in a Challenger. She just ignores it. You
have to get some stick into it as well.

I should get your friend to embark on a course of Full English Breakfasts.
Eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried bread, tomatoes. Followed by toast
and marmalade. After about 3 weeks he will have added another 20 lbs to his
weight and won`t be able get the Challenger off the ground at all and will
probably prolong his life quite a bit. As he is it is an accident waiting to
happen.

Cheers

Pat Smile.

I've listened politely for a month now, holding my tongue.
What a load of crap. There are over 3500 Challengers out there.
Probably the most successful design behind the Quicksilver (but hasn't gone
out of business 4~5 times). If you want something with a bigger tail, more
robust landing gear, and easier entrance/exit then the new LSS Challenger
takes care of all those issues.
But, that's not what you're here for. Like John says, if you want
to know more the Challenger list is the place to go. We certainly don't
spend any time bashing Kolbs on that list, regardless of their shortcomings.
I'll leave open a standing offer to take any Kolb list member for a
ride in a Challenger. We can even shut the engine off and dead-stick it to
a nice, soft landing.
